Thanks for the encouragement, Leah! I'm teaching a blogging class this week and unlike the last time I offered it (back in Janurary), I have a lot of people interested in it. I think it's just going to take a lot more work than I was expecting to drum up interest, but change is never easy, right? :)

I just had to come back to mention that not five minutes ago I was telling my supervisor how I was headed to the library after work to check out a new audiobook, and he said, "You can check out audiobooks from the library? Really?" Cracked me up.

Leah, sorry for the delay in responding! I was out of town with no internet! The horrors! :)

I'm always so glad to hear about people who love libraries and serve as advocates for what services we have to offer. Libraries are really changing and are totally different from the stereotypical quiet book-lending places most people think of. Unfortunatley, libraries are also, generally, pretty bad at advertizing what's new, so it is so important to have supportive and enthusiastic library patrons like yourself!

Keep spreading the word about the wonderful -- and FREE! -- things you can get at your library or through your library's website!

I am always surprised that people don't know what is available at their library. I go to the library during my lunch hour 2-3 days per week (more during the winter), so I'm a regular. I recently went on a road trip and someone asked me if it was a long drive and I mentioned that I had checked out an audiobook to listen to so the drive went faster, and he said, "They have audiobooks at the library?" How do people not know these things? It's shocking to me.

I did some more digging in Netvibes and found that you can share your modules and tabs, although perhaps with not as much functionality as Pageflakes.

I also, however, discovered that there appears to be no easy way to save a post from a feed. That's one thing I already miss about Bloglines. Oh well, maybe this will force me to be more dedicated to keeping my del.icio.us account current!

Frank,
I can definately see your point about how Pageflakes is superior in that it allows one to share a page. I could see how that would be great for, let's say, a Reference Department to have one page they could all share filled with flakes pertaining to library work. However, I still find Netvibes easier to configure and much more customizable. I can only assume they'll provide page sharing in the future, right?

I would have said the exact opposite. Pageflakes caught my fancy because they really pull together everything in one page, including the option to share your page with friends or even publish it for everyone to see. Bloglines or Netvibes don't do that...

Thanks for the link to Flickr instructions. The State Library has a Flickr group called NJ Library Events . So many people have asked for help on how to load their pictures and this is perfect. I’ve added the link in a topic post. When you have time –lol- you might want load some of your own pictures. Thanks again! - Nancy
